A Month of Joy — June with InterNations

June is a great month to experience, no matter where you are. It is the month of the longest (and shortest) day of the year, the month of summer celebrations (in the Northern hemisphere), but also simply a great time to travel and have new and exciting experiences.

Below are some of the ways in which our members spent this month together, from chic white parties and summer festivals to escapes from the big cities. But you’ll also find some exciting upcoming events that you should not miss if you are visiting or living in these communities. And maybe they will even be an inspiration of how you, too, can celebrate this month of joy.

Stay Cool in the City

“An amazing place with amazing souls” was the verdict of one of the members of the Dubai Living Out Loud Group after experiencing dinner and sunset on an ocean liner. Home to the first and only floating hotel in the emirate, the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II was the chosen venue for this activity. Aside from a delicious meal, the sunset and great company made this get-together a special one.

InterNations members in Amsterdam met in person for an official event at one of the most beautiful outdoor venues of the city, Amstelpark. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the park boasts 139 species of rhododendron, a Japanese garden, and beautiful scenery all around. The view from the café restaurant was absolutely stunning, and the weather left nothing to be desired.

Are you ready for some summer joy and great tunes? No matter if you live in Europe or plan on visiting, these musical activities are a highlight you shouldn’t miss:

On Friday, 24 June, the Copenhagen Jazz Live Music Group is heading to the jazz festival in the city. Join them and enjoy the opening concert together with other expats and global minds!

Would you rather play music yourself? Then the Frankfurt Musicians Group has something in store for you: a jam session and picnic in the park on Sunday, 26 June. Bring your blanket, sun lotion, and instrument — weather permitting, it’ll be a great time!

Dressed in White, Ready to Shine

Members of the Brussels Community got out of their pandemic rut and met at Callens Café to welcome summer. The dress code was white, but the attire took a backseat to the great atmosphere and the fun people were having at this official event.

White was also on the menu in Helsinki, as members got together to bring even more light to the long summer nights. The venue offered a lovely view of the Ruoholahti Canal and great music to accompany the official event that took place outside under a blue sky. What an amazing way to start the weekend!

Are you ready to get out your white summer wardrobe as well?

Join InterNations Amsterdam on Friday, 24 June for another white party to welcome the season and enjoy some great company! The venue offers delicious food, including Italian tapas and burgers, until 22:00 as well as free drinks for early birds.

For an evening with that extra bit of chic, InterNations Houston is hosting a White Linen Cocktail Party on Wednesday, 29 June. The venue is an elegant wine and cocktail bar nestled in a historic theater — the perfect place for this official event. Wear your favorite white linen outfit, put on a smile, and bring your international friends!

Summer Days of Joy and Pride

The Munich Beer Stammtisch Group escaped the city to witness a little-known Bavarian tradition: the ox race. Group members cheered on the oxen and their riders, while enjoying a cold beer and the general festival atmosphere. Make sure to take a look at the photo album to get the full impression of this unique experience.

The Nuremberg Sports Group had a great time climbing from tree to tree during their day at the adventure park. “Super fun,” as one of the members put it, and a true adventure, this trip was a great way for everyone to connect and end the weekend on an adrenaline high.

Getting out of the city was also on the itinerary for the Munich Travel Group. Together, they visited Lindau at Lake Constance, and since the weather was good, they explored the town and spent some time on the lake as well. It was a joyful escape to a picturesque small town.

The Paris Pride Parade is back in 2022 in its full glory, celebrating diversity and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community. The Paris LGBTQIA+ Group will meet on Saturday, 25 June, march together, and enjoy the moment. If you’re in Paris this weekend, you should not miss this colorful celebration.

On Friday, 24 June, the Stockholm Spontaneous Activities Group will celebrate light and summertime on the longest day of the year with a midsummer picnic. Meeting at Djurgårdsbrunn, the group plans to spend a relaxed afternoon sharing food, exchanging stories, and having a great time.
